Hey there, I’m Kayla!

The baker and photographer behind Better Batter Bakery! I’m a home-based baker, located in Greenfield, Indiana.

If you’re still reading, let me tell you a little bit about me and how this all started. If I’m honest, I can’t exactly pinpoint the moment I knew I loved to bake but I remember getting an Easy Bake Oven for my birthday as a little girl, and I wasted no time making myself a cake, after all, it was my birthday! I love trying new flavor combinations, whether it’s in a savory dish or a new cookie flavor combination; but I think what I love most goes beyond whisking together sugar and flour. Food brings people together, it’s how we make friends, nurture relationships, and at the center of every celebration there is usually a sweet treat!

The start of Better Batter Bakery:

It was August of 2021, and I was picking fresh blackberries with my aunt at her son’s house, we started talking about the upcoming revival at our church and the food she would be making, she asked if I wanted to make the dessert and of course, I said yes! I decided on a blackberry cheesecake, and despite never making a single one in my life, it was a hit! I decided to take a chance and start selling them, orders started coming in and I could barely keep up! Cheesecakes turned into cookies and cookies turned into hot cocoa bombs and from there Better Batter Bakery was born!

I believe that quality ingredients are key to creating the very best sweets, from Callebaut chocolate chips to King Arthur’s Gluten free flour, quality matters! If I wouldn’t feed it to my family, I won’t feed it to yours!
